KATHMANDU, JULY 11The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology is studying the record-breaking rainfall incident in Kanchanpur district.

Today, the department appointed a team of experts for the study. During the study, information will be gathered from local municipality representatives, local and government officials, and an assessment of the damage in the area will be conducted.Local experiences during the rainfall will also be collected.

The monsoon rains that fell on Dodhara, Hanumannagar, and Sundarpur areas of Kanchanpur on July 7 and 8 broke a 78-year record.The department has established an automated rain measuring center there.The region recorded its highest rainfall since 2003 BS.

According to the department's data, 624 mm of rain was measured in Dodhara, 573.6 mm in Hanumannagar, and 555.8 mm in Sundarpur. .
